Crews of D-30 and D-30A howitzers, as well as 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery guns, have begun to receive updated OF56IM-1 high-explosive fragmentation shells in their ammunition load. The firing range is 19,300 m, while the range of standard ZOF24 is 15,200 m.
Consequently, the new shells in a number of situations provide D-30/A and 2S1 Gvozdika crews with the ability to provide counter-battery fire against early versions of the Paladin SPG.
They also ensure complete dominance over 105-mm M119A2/3 towed howitzers.
