The Russian Iskander-M operational-tactical complex and the Tornado-S multiple launch rocket system will become even more effective in countering the American HIMARS MLRS. The use of combat aircraft with radar equipment will make their work even more effective, said military expert Yevgeny Damantsev.
He stated that in long-range counter-battery duels, Tornado-S demonstrates superiority over HIMARS, and Iskander-M over ATACMS Block I/IA with proper optoelectronic reconnaissance of the alleged areas of HIMARS presence on the march and deployment in firing positions.
At the same time, Tornado-S and Iskander-M will operate even more effectively after the introduction of reconnaissance and strike contours of Tu-214R strategic radar reconnaissance aircraft with MRK-411 RLC, as well as Su-34M/NVO equipped with UKR-RL Sych container RLC based on Pika-M phased array radars.
They are capable of detecting and classifying the M142 HIMARS launcher at a distance of 170-200 km and the M270 MLRS up to 230-250 km in synthetic aperture mode (SAR).
