The Russian army is receiving the latest BMP-3 armored personnel carriers from Kurganmashzavod. The vehicles are equipped with new Sodema-type multi-channel sights for the gunner-operator, providing the ability to detect and classify targets of the "tank/BMP" type at night at a distance of 3700 m. The crew can use the 9M117M1-3 Arkan ATGM at a similar range.
During the day, the range of the Arkan ATGM increases to 5500 m. The rifled 100-mm low-ballistics 2A70 gun operates at 6.5 km from closed positions along a direct trajectory, providing the shells with high accuracy of fire due to their rotation around the longitudinal axis, as well as a modern digital ballistic computer.
Later, the vehicles are retrofitted with advanced multi-layer anti-cumulative screens of the side armor plates of the hull and central frontal parts, which will also increase resistance from 25-mm BPS M919 and large fragments from high-explosive fragmentation shells.
