Magical "Verba": Powerful Russian MANPADS Turns Enemy Drone into a Shower of Sparks

Engagement altitude of the "Verba" is up to 6 km

An episode of intercepting a small-sized drone with a 9M336 surface-to-air guided missile launched by a "Verba" MANPADS crew has gone viral on the web. The drone was destroyed at an altitude of about 1350 m using a three-spectral optoelectronic homing head.

The seeker operates in the mid-wave and near-infrared, as well as ultraviolet wavebands. This provides it with selectivity, high noise immunity and selective potential when the enemy sets up optoelectronic interference and uses IR traps.

The maximum speed of targets engaged by the "Verba" MANPADS is 400 m/s, the radius of action is 6 km, while the altitude of targets engaged is about 3.5 km. The crew can receive target designation from the 1L122-1E Garmon radar.
