РЖД представили обновленный «Сапсан»: поезд полностью состоит из российских компонентов

The train, updated for the project's 15th anniversary, will start running on December 23

In honor of the 15th anniversary of the launch of the Sapsan trains, Russian Railways presented the first train fully modernized with domestic components. The modernization includes the installation of components manufactured only by Russian manufacturers.

The first trip of the updated Sapsan is scheduled for December 23. The presentation of the first updated train took place at the Belorussky railway station in Moscow. The updated train features private areas for business meetings, a play area for children in carriage No. 10, new seats in business class, and sockets for charging mobile devices in economy class. In the bistro car, the tables have been updated with wireless charging capabilities, as well as bar counters. LED lighting with adjustable settings has been installed throughout the train.

In addition, a new menu design for the bistro car for 2025 was presented. The menu features dishes from Russian regions, a new line of desserts, an updated wine list compiled with the participation of domestic winemakers, and a children's kids box with food and a toy.

According to Russian Railways, almost 63 million passengers have been transported since the launch of the Sapsan trains. Over the 15 years of its existence, the trains have traveled more than 75.8 million kilometers, which is almost 120 thousand trips.

After the introduction of the first high-speed railway line Moscow - St. Petersburg, the Sapsan trains will continue to operate in other directions. Deputy Head of Russian Railways Ivan Kolesnikov noted that there are many directions where the Sapsan may be in demand, especially on lines where the Finist and Lastochka trains are already operating.

Although the Sapsan was manufactured by the foreign company Siemens, significant measures have been taken over the past 15 years to adapt the train for operation in Russian conditions, which has made it possible to form its own engineering school and approaches to modernization.
