The Russian government will launch an experiment on the online sale of subsidized airline tickets for preferential categories of citizens, which will last from January 1 to July 1, 2025. The new initiative aims to simplify the ticket purchase process and reduce the time required to process and confirm eligibility for benefits.
The participants in the experiment will be young people under 23 years of age, pensioners, disabled people, large families, as well as residents of the Far East and the Kaliningrad region. Currently, such passengers are forced to purchase preferential tickets only through ticket offices.
The experiment involves testing the integration of the "Subsidized Transportation Portal" with digital platforms of state bodies and the Pension and Social Insurance Fund. This will allow real-time verification of citizens' eligibility for preferential tariffs using electronic services.
The creation of a special digital service will make the process of purchasing subsidized tickets more convenient, especially for people with disabilities. In addition, the new system will simplify the reporting of airlines required to receive subsidies from the state.
The successful implementation of the experiment could be an important step towards the full digitalization of subsidized air transportation and further improvement of transport accessibility for preferential categories of citizens.
