Land-Based SAM System "Pantsir" Unexpectedly Equipped with Shipborne 1RS-ZE Radar

The complex remained on the KamAZ-6560 chassis and is capable of using two types of anti-aircraft missiles

The Russian military has received an unusual anti-aircraft missile and gun system (SAM) "Pantsir-S". Footage of the combat unit was published by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The composition of the complex is of interest. Judging by the video, we are talking about a modernized export version of the "Pantsir-S1M", but with a new radar station (radar) 1RS-ZE from the "Pantsir-M" version, designed for air defense of warships.

At the same time, the complex retained the previous target detection station 1RS1-ZE-RLM. "Pantsirs" in this configuration have not yet been seen on the network.

Recall that "Pantsirs" are equipped with two radars for different tasks. The first, 1RS-ZE, is designed to monitor the sky at 360°. The second, 1RS1-ZE-RLM, is needed directly for guiding anti-aircraft missiles at the detected target.

Another unusual detail is the chassis. Unlike the export versions of the "Pantsir" based on the KamAZ-53958 (8x8) of the "Tornado" family with an armored cabin, this particular SAM system uses the old KamAZ-6560 (8x8) chassis, the Telegram channel "Military Informant" noted.

In addition, two types of anti-aircraft missiles are used in the ammunition of this SAM system - under the indices 57E6 and 57E6M.
