Moscow authorities are considering the possibility of introducing tolls for Muscovites on the Moscow High-Speed Diameter (MSD) due to the increased load on the highway.
Deputy Mayor Maxim Liksutov stated that various solutions to this problem are currently being discussed. He noted that the authorities face a choice: either leave the MSD as an overloaded highway with traffic jams, or introduce tolls to ensure a more predictable travel time. The official cited the example of Bagration Avenue, where the route remains in demand even with high tariffs.
The MSD is the longest high-speed diameter in Russia, with a length of 68 km, running from the north to the south of the capital. Currently, transit traffic from other regions is subject to a toll (950 rubles), but it remains free for Moscow residents.
