The Twix Effect: Starting in 2025, FPC trains will allow pets in compartments without buying out all seats

The cost of transportation will range from 427 to 5073 rubles, depending on the distance

From the beginning of 2025, passengers will be able to transport pets in the premium carriages of the Federal Passenger Company (FPC) trains without buying out the entire compartment.

Stanislav Zotin, Deputy Head of FPC (a subsidiary of Russian Railways), announced that now it will be enough to issue a special receipt to transport a pet in a carrier. The changes are being introduced in response to numerous requests from passengers.

For example, on the branded train No. 104 Moscow — Adler, where all carriages are of a premium class, it will be possible to pay only for the animal. If the entire compartment is bought out, the pet's transportation document will remain free of charge. Currently, the cost of transporting an animal depends on the distance and ranges from 427 to 5073 rubles.

Changes in transportation rules after the incident with the cat Twix. The pet died after being mistakenly considered stray and released onto the street. This case caused a wide public outcry and became an occasion to revise the norms. Now, in such situations, conductors are obliged to transfer pets to employees of stopping points with a subsequent call to animal rights activists.

These innovations are aimed at increasing the comfort of passengers with pets and protecting pets during trips.
