After modernization, the crew of the cruiser "Admiral Nakhimov" will intercept targets beyond the radio horizon with 40N6 anti-aircraft missiles and 9M96DM of the "Pantsir" shipborne complex.
Target designation for the system will be provided by the onboard radar systems "Irbis-E" and "Zaslon-AM" of the Su-35S fighters and MiG-31BM interceptors.
Illumination for the 48N6DM anti-aircraft missiles and target designation for the 9M96DM missiles will be provided by 30N6 X-band wave illumination and guidance radars brought to the 92N6 level with increased energy parameters of microwave klystrons.
Apparently, the detection range of targets with an RCS of 0.1 sq. m for these radars will be increased to 130-160 km, while previous models reached about 70-80 km.
The cruiser "Admiral Nakhimov" has been under repair since 1999. The main result of the cruiser's modernization will be the strengthening of its strike power. It is expected that the ship will carry "Kalibr-NK" or "Onyx" cruise missiles, as well as "Zircon" hypersonic missiles.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Russian Aerospace Forces called for equipping the 48Ya6-K1 "Podlet-K1" radar with the ability to detect heavy A-22 UAVs and SCALP-EG missiles.
