The Russian military is armed with 300-mm gliding guided combat blocks D-30SN UMPB of a hybrid two-stage rocket projectile based on the 9M544 URS of the Tula Tornado-S multiple launch rocket system.
In one episode of use, the solid-propellant booster block launched the D-30SN combat block to a height of about 17-23 km, accelerating it to a speed of 3.7-4M. After that, squibs ensured its release and further flight of the D-30SN along a flat trajectory with slight ballistic deceleration.
When the speed drops to approximately 1150 km/h, the wing opened and planning followed for a distance of up to 140 km, which, in combination with a "throw" range of 60-80 km, the range of the D-30SN can reach 200 - 220 km.
The planning block has a combined guidance system based on an INS and a GLONASS correction module with a jam-resistant antenna module "Cometa-R8".
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russia has begun developing engines for a domestic reusable super-light rocket.
