Footage of the combat operation of the 9K720 Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system with a 9M723-1 missile has appeared online. The crew received target designation from a third-party source and instantly loaded the coordinates via KSAUO into the inertial navigation unit of one of the missiles.
Domestic 9M723-1s are equipped with tail-mounted paired nozzle gas-dynamic struts, providing missile control in yaw, pitch, and roll even in the rarefied layers of the mesosphere at altitudes of 50 - 60 km, where the effectiveness of aerodynamic rudders is minimized.
On the cruise portion of the trajectory, the missile has a flexible quasi-ballistic trajectory. At the same time, the radiation patterns of most MRADARs of enemy anti-aircraft missile systems have an altitude limit for tracked targets of about 40 km, and the Iskander-M either enters the detection and tracking zone of the SAM radar at a distance of 25 - 30 km, or bypasses it by diving at angles greater than 85 degrees.
For this reason, 9M723-1 quasi-ballistic missiles are rarely intercepted by attacked SAM systems. They may only be vulnerable to Patriot PAC-3MSE and SAMP-T, whose MPQ-65 and Arabel multi-functional radars are deployed at a distance of 25 - 30 km from the attacked objects.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the acceleration of the Su-57M fighter from 600 to 1100 km/h will be reduced to 8.5 seconds due to engine modernization.
