Production of heavy unmanned aerial vehicles with a flight range of over 1000 km and a payload capacity of 200-300 kg has started in Taganrog. This was announced by Alexey Fitingof, General Director of "Pervoye OKB," at the export council under the Governor of the Rostov Region.
According to him, the drone is similar in tactical and technical characteristics to the Turkish UAV Bayraktar. However, the Russian drone is 16 times cheaper than the simplest version of the foreign drone.
Fitingof also emphasized that comparing the UAV from Taganrog with the Turkish version is not entirely correct, since Bayraktar is a strike-reconnaissance drone, while the Taganrog drone is a transport UAV.
The wingspan of Bayraktar is 14 m, the length of the drone is 8.35 m. The maximum take-off weight is 1450 kg, the payload capacity is 280 kg. The flight range of the drone, equipped with a 172-horsepower PD170 engine, is about 1800 km, the duration of autonomous operation is more than 24 hours.
