В Санкт-Петербурге нашли новый метод проектирования судов

It will improve the accuracy of calculations and optimize the design of thrusters

At St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University (SPbGMTU), an innovative method for designing thrusters, key elements of modern ships, has been developed. These devices allow ships to perform complex maneuvers in straits and ports. This was reported by the university's press service.

In Russia, thrusters were either purchased abroad or designed without a clear methodology. Outdated approaches did not meet modern requirements. The new methodology is designed to fill this gap and simplify the design process.

We are familiar with the old methodology and know its shortcomings. Therefore, we based the new one on a slightly different approach, which allows us to improve the accuracy of calculations and optimize the design.
Alexey Yakovlev, Head of the Department of Hydromechanics and Marine Acoustics at SPbGMTU

Scientists used numerical modeling. It allows you to quickly explore various design options and speeds up the development process. In the future, it is planned to expand the scope of the methodology, including water jet propulsion units for high-speed vessels.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Rechvodput received 2 service vessels of project 3050 from KMZ.
