A rare photo has appeared online showing a multirole Su-35S fighter equipped with two B-13L blocks containing S-13 "Tumbas" series unguided rockets.
Military analyst Evgeny Damantsev suggested that this armament is mounted on the aircraft solely due to the need to practice engaging ground targets as part of an air force exercise.
According to him, the use of S-13 unguided rockets and other unguided missile weapons by Su-35S crews in combat conditions is counterproductive and fraught with the loss of expensive aircraft equipped with unique Irbis-E airborne radars and the range of application modes provided by these radars, including gaining air superiority, long-range interception, AEW&C, and surface radar reconnaissance of ground targets.
Therefore, "Tumbas" unguided rockets are used exclusively by Su-25SM and Su-25SM3 attack aircraft, designed to provide direct fire support to troops on the line of contact.
Unguided rockets are unguided rockets. Sometimes they are called unguided air-to-surface missiles.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the unique tanker "Engineer-Admiral Kotov" was launched in Russia.
