Modernized versions of the Pantsir-SM anti-aircraft missile and gun systems are beginning to be equipped with higher-energy versions of the 1RS1-3E radar detectors and 1RS3 guidance radars with passive phased arrays.
These radar systems have more powerful microwave generators and more sensitive receiving paths, which will allow them to detect targets with ultra-small RCS of about 0.01 m² at a distance of up to 17 km, and targets such as a transitional generation "4++" fighter at a distance of about 50 - 60 km.
The effectiveness of these versions of the SAM system in countering Storm Shadow missiles will be 3 times higher than that of the standard versions of the complex.
The vehicles will also receive higher-speed two-stage interceptor missiles with a range of 40 km instead of 20.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that rare footage of the launch of a supersonic anti-aircraft missile "Pantsir-S1" at a UAV has appeared on the Web.
