A new batch of F-16 fighters may appear on the front lines. The Russian Aerospace Forces should be prepared to encounter modifications of the F-16C Block 52+/60, equipped with modern airborne radars based on the AN/APG-83 SABR active phased array radar (APAR).
Due to the presence of individual attenuators and microwave transistors in the architecture of each transmit-receive module of the APAR, these radars have higher noise immunity than the "Bars-R" radar of the Su-30SM fighters and a similar target detection range with an RCS of 3 m² of about 160 km.
The Su-30SM with an RCS of 12 m² can be detected at a distance of about 200 km. The "Bars-R" will detect the F-16C Block 52+/60 at a distance of about 150 km.
As a result, in dueling situations, the latest versions of F-16C with AIM-120D air-to-air missiles can engage in air combat on par with the Su-30SM/1 multirole fighters, only inferior to the Su-30SM2, Su-35S, and partially the MiG-31BM. These points must be taken into account by the command of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
