Russian Agricultural Bank conducted its first transaction with digital rubles on November 28, 2024. All transfers and payments in digital rubles are free of charge.
Participants in the pilot project will be able to use the bank's mobile application to conduct transactions on the Bank of Russia's digital ruble platform. This includes exchanging non-cash rubles for digital rubles and vice versa, transfers, payment for goods and services, and processing refunds.
A function for automatic transfer of digital rubles according to user-defined parameters is also available. All actions are protected by cryptographic methods.
Among the first transactions with digital rubles are purchases of food and train tickets, and transfers between individuals (C2C) and from customers to businesses (C2B). It is expected that operations with digital rubles will become widespread from July 1, 2025.
The digital ruble opens up a new horizon of opportunities for the entire financial sector and for each bank client. The mechanics of handling the digital ruble will not differ from a non-cash transaction.
