The Russian 6B47 helmet (part of the "Ratnik" gear, created at the "Reinforced Composites" Center for High-Strength Materials) surpasses foreign counterparts in its technical characteristics. It protects against small and medium fragments.
The helmet weighs about 1 kg. The 6B47 is 200 g lighter than the 6B7-1M.
In 2015, experts from the American testing company DuPont recognized the 6B47 as the best lightweight helmet in the world.
The Russian helmet surpasses the Western SENTRY. It combines hard composite shells on the outer and inner sides, as well as multi-layered flexible armor.
According to many soldiers, the 6B47 has repeatedly saved their lives. For example, blogger Razvedos told how the helmet "caught" a shell fragment and protected its owner.
Another blogger, VladDN, stated that one of the soldiers was shot at from 15 meters with a Glock-17 pistol. The 9 mm bullet did not penetrate the helmet, but only tore its top layer.
