A unique car has been put up for auction at Litfond — a Mercedes 450 SLC, presented in 1973 to the General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee, Leonid Brezhnev.
The car was handed over as part of Brezhnev's official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, during the signing of the Moscow Treaty, which touched upon the topic of the inviolability of borders in Europe. In honor of this event, he was presented with a Mercedes in a special configuration.
Seven years later, in 1980, Brezhnev handed over the car to Igor Shchelokov, the son of his best friend and Minister of Internal Affairs, Nikolai Shchelokov. Since then, the car has remained in the Shchelokov family. Today, the Mercedes 450 SLC is considered a rare historical value of the 20th century.
The car is equipped with a 4.5-liter V8 engine with a capacity of 225 horsepower, paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The starting price of the lot at the auction is 28 million rubles. The auction will be held on Saturday, November 23.
