В России для нефтяных месторождений разработан новый способ подготовки жидкого топлива к сжиганию

It reduces the time for forming a fuel-air mixture by 4-10 times compared to traditional methods

A new method has been developed for Russian oil fields to prepare liquid fuel for combustion in a land-based civil gas turbine unit, along with a device for implementing this method. It reduces the time for forming a fuel-air mixture by 4-10 times, while the fuel preparation and combustion stages occur in parallel. The inventors, scientists from Tomsk Polytechnic University, have already patented it.

The heating unit, developed in the heat and mass transfer laboratory of TPU and the "Experimental Production" center of TPU with the support of the federal program of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia "Priority-2030", is a cylindrical chamber with a compressor for preparing a fuel-air mixture for combustion in land-based gas turbine units. It has viewing windows for video recording and studying the combustion characteristics of composite fuels.

Fuel preparation in the chamber for combustion occurs by fine spraying and evaporation of liquid fuel due to thermal effects on a two-fluid spray. Heating elements located around the flame tube are used to supply heat to the unit.

Traditionally, fuel is supplied to the combustion chamber by primary atomization from nozzle devices or using evaporative systems. The main advantage of our method is the secondary atomization of a two-fluid spray as it moves through a tract heated to high temperatures. This improves energy efficiency, fuel combustion completeness, increases the heat exchange surface area, and reduces the environmental load. In addition, our developed method reduces the mixture preparation time by 4-10 times compared to traditional methods.

In the future, scientists plan to conduct a series of experiments on the combustion of composite fuels using the new unit.
