At the National Research University "MEI", a more economical method for producing "green" hydrogen through low-temperature water electrolysis has been developed. This was reported by the university's press service.
Single-atom catalysts based on molecular complexes, synthesized in accordance with the principles of green chemistry (excluding negative impacts on human health and the environment) and platinum economy, have shown high performance in the hydrogen evolution reaction.
The research focused on finding single-atom molecular electrocatalysts for the hydrogen production reaction during low-temperature water electrolysis without platinum metals. Abandoning them will reduce the cost of the process.
The new technology will improve the efficiency of the electrolysis process and reduce the cost of hydrogen production. The development is planned to be used in industry and energy.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that in Tomsk they synthesized a new class of materials for hydrogen production.
