The Russian anti-aircraft missile and gun system "Pantsir-S" demonstrated its high capabilities in repelling American ATACMS tactical missiles. This was reported by the editor-in-chief of the "National Defense" magazine, Igor Korotchenko.
The day before, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the "Pantsir" and S-400 air defense system crews shot down five American ATACMS missiles.
This combat episode underscores the high combat characteristics of the "Pantsir" and the compliance of its performance characteristics with the real requirements of complex air combat. This is the first widely known air combat involving the SAM system in its area of responsibility against several air ballistic targets at once.
ATACMS is an operational-tactical ballistic missile developed by the American company Lockheed Martin. It can be launched from various multiple launch rocket systems, including the M142 HIMARS.
