Suspension, Electrical Systems, Batteries: What Breaks Down Most Often in Russian Cars

According to a survey by Rosgosstrakh and Autocode, every fourth car owner spends between 40,000 and 70,000 rubles per year on car maintenance

Rosgosstrakh and Autocode surveyed Russian car owners about how satisfied they are with their vehicles and their problems. It turned out that every fifth Russian respondent (20% of respondents) is not satisfied with the car they bought. But at the same time, only 2% of them are going to change the car they don't like. These data are provided by the TASS news agency, citing survey data available to the editors.

Dissatisfaction with a car in a quarter of cases depends on how often it breaks down. Malfunctions can catch you off guard, disrupting both your daily routine and budget planning. According to our research, every fourth respondent (25%) spends 40-70 thousand rubles on annual car maintenance, 19% - from 70 to 100 thousand rubles, and another 18% of motorists spend from 100 to 150 thousand rubles a year on the car.

According to the survey, 60% of motorists have encountered breakdowns in the last three years. 23% of respondents have been repaired two or three times during this time, every fifth (20%) - once. Another 7% of respondents' cars broke down three to five times, and 7% - more than five times. It turned out that most often Russian car owners have problems with:

  • suspension (42% of cases);
  • electrical systems (24% of cases);
  • battery (23% of cases);
  • engine (20% of cases).

Those who have not encountered breakdowns at all, in 31% of cases drive Japanese cars. Owners of European cars do not suffer from breakdowns in 25% of cases, and owners of Russian cars are in third place in terms of the absence of breakdowns and complaints about the car: there were 14% of them.

Earlier it became known that Russians in October spent 542 billion rubles on new cars. This figure is 60% higher compared to the same period last year.
