The Judicial Department at the Supreme Court of Russia, after a large-scale hacker attack that paralyzed the GAS "Justice" system for Russian courts, is creating a special information security department. This is reported by the Russian Agency of Legal and Judicial Information.
As the General Director of the Judicial Department, Vladislav Ivanov, told RAPSI, this department will take all measures to prevent hacker attacks and other digital incidents, and "extremely clear algorithms of actions in case of hacker attacks" will be developed. It is proposed to create similar structures in regional administrations, and separate special courses on information security will appear at the Russian Academy of Justice.
Vladislav Ivanov noted that most court websites are now available after the BO Team hacker group attack on the GAS "Justice", and the system will be fully restored in the near future. However, according to a number of media outlets, citing sources in the judicial system, there are problems with access to the GAS "Justice" and with the operation of e-mails in the Novgorod, Belgorod, Nizhny Novgorod and other regions, as well as in St. Petersburg.
Informatization of modern courts, as the official noted, is very important for Russia. This is one of the effective ways to "ensure the accessibility and quality of justice": informatization can "speed up legal proceedings, reduce the burden on judges and court staff, reduce the cost of legal proceedings and increase the level of transparency of the judicial system".
