Gazprom Transgaz Yekaterinburg LLC purchased four UMP 7088A5 universal engine heaters mounted on KAMAZ chassis for the beginning of winter. The special equipment will be sent to the company's branches in the Chelyabinsk, Kurgan, and Orenburg regions.
The design operates on CNG: the chassis requires sixteen cylinders with a total volume of 1420 liters, and the UMP requires nine cylinders with a volume of 720 liters.
UMPs are indispensable in the cold season for various purposes. For example, they help when it is necessary to start heavy equipment that is stored in open areas. But their main task is working with gas pipelines.
When a section is taken out for repair, UMPs purge the gas pipeline to displace residual gas-air mixture from it. They are also used to heat linear valves before switching one string to another on the linear part of the gas pipeline and when changing the gas transport mode at the compressor station.
