Многоступенчатая схема мошенничества в России: как злоумышленники крадут деньги с использованием «Госуслуг»

Scammers pose as postal workers and investigators to deceive people and gain access to their accounts

Phone scammers in Russia have intensified a new multi-stage fraud scheme aimed at seizing citizens' money or real estate. According to Ivan Solovyov, an Honored Lawyer of Russia, the scammers call people, posing as employees of "Russian Post", and inform them that they need to come to the post office to receive a registered letter. The scammers offer to "simplify" the process by sending a notification to the victim's postal or email address, while asking for a verification code to process the application.

If the victim suspects something at this stage and interrupts the conversation, the scammers do not stop their actions. They continue the manipulation, moving on to the next stage of deception. After some time, the victim receives a new call. This time, the scammers introduce themselves as employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or the FSB and claim that the potential victim's account on "Gosuslugi" is under threat of hacking because they allegedly recently communicated with fake postal workers.

To "protect" the data, the "investigators" demand that they be sent the access code from the SMS message that they themselves sent. After entering the code, the victim loses access to their account on "Gosuslugi", which can lead to microloans being taken out in their name.

Solovyov emphasized that any conversations with strangers, regardless of who they claim to be, should be stopped, and information should only be verified through official channels.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that Russian Post warned about a new SMS code scam.
