«Дочка» Роскосмоса нарастила выпуск роботизированных коленных протезов на 30%

It is the only serial manufacturer of microprocessor knee modules in Russia; until 2023, they were not mass-produced

The only serial manufacturer of microprocessor knee modules in Russia, NPK "Systems of Precision Instrument Engineering" (NPK "SPP", part of the Roscosmos State Corporation), increased production of its unique products by 30% in 2024.

According to Kommersant, citing company representatives, these products were not mass-produced at all until 2023. The cost of developing and launching the products into mass production amounted to more than 500 million rubles. One such prosthesis costs the consumer more than 1.5 million rubles. The number of prostheses produced in these two years has not been reported in quantitative terms, but it is known that in 2024 there were 30% more of them than in 2023.

The Russian market's need for microprocessor knee modules ranges from 1,000 to 3,000 units per year, based on factors such as demographics, disability rates, and economic conditions. We plan to expand our capacity to meet growing demand and ensure stable supplies.

Other manufacturers also intend to expand the production of bionic prostheses amid a market demand growth of 1.5–2 times over the past two years. In particular, Motorica plans to quadruple its production by the end of 2024 and add new developments to the line in the form of leg prostheses and neurostimulators. In 2026, in addition to the production of exoskeletons, this company plans an IPO on the Moscow Exchange. And by 2028, Motorica intends to launch the production of electric wheelchairs, hearing implants, and implantable microelectronics. All devices and IT services will be assembled into a single platform called ATTILAN in the concept of the "Internet of Bodies."

Earlier, NPK "SPP" presented the bionic prosthesis "Aktiv-2", consisting of 95% Russian components.
