Will Anti-Aircraft Missiles with Infrared Homing Head Cope?

The enemy has begun to deploy fiber optic "Khizhak RebOFF" drones from 3DTech at the front. The main tactical and technical advantage of such drones is complete immunity to interference from classic electronic warfare systems.

This allows the FPV drone to operate at a minimum altitude, avoiding detection and effectively penetrating hard-to-reach areas where radio signals do not pass. The range of operation is up to 10 km.

Military analyst Evgeny Damantsev noted that highly energetic microwave electromagnetic suppression systems, laser-beam optoelectronic countermeasure systems, as well as anti-aircraft missiles with IR photo-contrast homing heads, or semi-automatic laser-beam control systems with laser detonators, are capable of effectively countering these drones.

These include the 9M333 SAMs of the Strela-10M3/MN complexes, the 9M127 Vikhr-1 and 9M121 Ataka-V missiles, or the Sosna-R of the Ptitselov complex. The Pantsir-S1/SM SAM systems are also effective against Khizhak RebOFF drones.
