The Perm National Research Polytechnic University (PNRPU) has created a method to improve the reliability of oil production units, the university's press service reported.
Scientists have found that in an ammonia environment, the hardness of the nitrided layer in the center of the weld is significantly higher than in other areas.
This negatively affects the operational characteristics of the product. Nitriding in an atmosphere of argon, nitrogen, hydrogen and methane at a temperature of 500°C and an exposure time of 12 hours allows the formation of a uniform hardened layer over the entire inner surface of the liner, including the weld zone.
The research results will allow adjusting the process of nitriding bimetallic cylinders of sucker rod pumps in the oil industry. This will lead to an increase in their service life.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the MIPT created software for electrical exploration of deposits.
