The Kalashnikov arms concern has successfully completed state tests of the new advanced AM-17 assault rifle. Currently, Kalashnikov is formalizing the test results and preparing the necessary documentation to obtain the «O1» designation for this product.
The AM-17 is designed taking into account the requirements for modern automatic small arms. It has been tested on the front lines, where it has already received good reviews. The concern plans to begin mass production of the AM-17 in 2025, it can replace the AKS74U assault rifle, which was adopted in 1979.
The main highlight of the product is the widespread use of high-strength polymer materials in it, including in the design of the receiver.
This technical solution made it possible, while remaining within the mass and size characteristics of the analogue, to use components that meet modern requirements for small arms: a folding telescopic stock, a two-way fire mode selector, a Picatinny rail rigidly connected to the barrel; a cocking handle that can be installed on both the right and left sides.
The AM-17 assault rifle structurally consists of a receiver with a barrel and stock, a trigger box and a forend. The receiver houses the locking assembly, the bolt carrier with the bolt and the return mechanism. The trigger box includes a control handle and a magazine well, and houses the trigger mechanism.
The forend houses the front sight and a screen designed to reduce heating of the forend during firing. The trigger box and receiver are interconnected by transverse latches that are removed when disassembling the rifle.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Kalashnikov will present the latest Skat 350M UAV in Moscow. Visitors will also see the concern's new first-aid kit for the military, which has already received high marks from servicemen.
