The Russian army widely uses 9K57 Uragan multiple launch rocket systems, surpassed in prevalence only by the 9K51 Grad. Footage of the complex, with its guides and cabin protected by an anti-drone net, has gone viral online.
The "Uragans" were adopted into service back in 1975. This system is valued for its powerful ammunition with warheads of 89.5-143.5 kg and a range of 36 km.
The four-axle ZIL-135LM used as a chassis are highly passable, while their replacement with modern three-axle BAZ-69092 has already started.
The Ministry of Defense noted that the Uragan MLRS crews operate at a distance of up to 40 km. It takes several minutes to prepare and refine the coordinates. After completing the task, the unit returns to cover, reloads, and moves to a new position to provide fire support to assault groups on the front line.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the protection of the Russian Tor SAM systems has also been strengthened. They received screens made of five-millimeter thick armored steel, which protect the system's hull.
