Russian tank construction uses metal tracks. In the West, tanks are equipped with tracks with rubberized grousers. At the same time, the grip of "shod" tracks with asphalt and concrete during movement is much higher than that of metal ones. This was pointed out by military expert Eduard Perov.
As part of the experiments, the coefficients of adhesion of Soviet tracks on various surfaces were taken, as well as the Sherman tank with grousers cut on a milling machine.
It turned out that rubberized tracks have good grip on asphalt, concrete, and wet road surfaces. However, it is better to move on icy roads in a tank with metal tracks. According to Perov, "the superiority is almost twofold."
The handling of tanks "shod" with this type of track is much better, which reduces the risk of accidents and increases the average speed of movement on marches.
