Нет противолодочной защиты и систем ПВО: эксперт указал на недостатки российских МРК

Military expert Marzhetsky: It is possible to install "Calibers" and "Zircons" on ground-based launchers

Russia is developing the newest ship with 20 Kalibr cruise missiles on board. We are talking about project 21635.1 "Sarsar" (based on small missile ships of the "Buyan-M" project). Military expert Sergei Marzhetsky said that the MRK has significant shortcomings.

The problem is that MRKs were created solely to circumvent the restrictions artificially imposed on Russia under the INF Treaty. But the United States withdrew from this agreement, so nothing prevents the installation of "Calibers" or "Zircons" on mobile ground-based launchers.

This approach is faster and cheaper than building and maintaining MRKs, he stressed. Small missile ships are effective for long-range strikes, but they have serious limitations. For example, the MRK does not have anti-submarine protection systems.

In addition, this class of ships has extremely weak air defense. Consequently, they cannot be used in the Black or Baltic Seas, where unmanned boats of the enemy may be, Marzhetsky summed up.
