В России не хватает 65 тысяч тракторов и 34 тысячи комбайнов

To remedy the situation, the Ministry of Agriculture proposes changing the strategy for the development of the agro-industrial complex until 2030

The Ministry of Agriculture has proposed amendments to the strategy for the development of the agro-industrial and fisheries complexes of Russia for the period up to 2030. The fact is that farmers are faced with a shortage of equipment, import dependence and other difficulties that hinder the implementation of previous versions of these strategies.

Currently, about 53% of tractors, 45% of grain harvesters and 44% of forage harvesters working in the country's fields were produced more than 10 years ago. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, in order to maintain the pace of renewal of the fleet of equipment and reduce the amount of equipment operated for more than 10 years, an annual renewal of 10% of the number of self-propelled machines and other types of equipment available is required.

But this does not happen, there are not enough units of equipment for work, not only for replacement.

Currently, seasonal field work in agriculture is mechanized, but in order to carry it out within agro-technological timeframes, the fleet of tractors should be 494.3 thousand units, and harvesters - 176.5 thousand units. As of August 1, 2024, agricultural producers had 429.5 thousand tractors, 127.1 thousand grain harvesters and 15.1 thousand forage harvesters.

Earlier, following the results of the first two quarters of 2024, it became known that Russian farmers began to buy less agricultural machinery. Of the eleven most popular items of equipment for farmers, only tractors were still being bought steadily. In the first six months of 2024, their sales fell by only 1% compared to the same period in 2023. The situation is worse in other categories: there was a drop in demand of up to 62%.
