KAMAZ is creating an innovative truck called Galleon. Its main area of application is work in ports. The technical characteristics and features of the model were revealed at a closed event for potential clients.
KAMAZ plans to expand its business by producing equipment for ports.
In August, a new subsidiary, KAMAZ - Port Machines, was created within the framework of this project.
The port tractor will be presented in two versions: with front and all-wheel drive. The curb weight will be 7.5 or 9 tons, and the payload capacity will be 33 tons. The main elements will be produced in Russia: frame, power unit, transmission, transfer mechanism.
In early 2025, the first prototype of the tractor will appear, and at the end of 2025 - beginning of 2026, the production of a pilot batch will start. The truck will be named Galleon.
Earlier, KAMAZ presented its most giant truck "Atlant-65". Due to its size, it cannot move on ordinary roads. This huge dump truck can carry up to 65 tons of cargo, and its own weight is 95 tons.
KAMAZ also showed aprototype of a hydrogen truck. It is capable of traveling up to 500 kilometerson a single battery charge.
