KamAZ Showed a Prototype of a Hydrogen Truck: The Vehicle is Called "Chistogor"

For Now, the Vehicle Does Not Accelerate Beyond 30 km/h

At the International Automotive Scientific Forum, which is taking place in the capital, KamAZ presented a prototype of a hydrogen-powered truck. The vehicle is called "Chistogor". The Telegram channel "Trucks and in General" revealed interesting details about the vehicle.

Although the hydrogen power plant itself was developed by the Hydrogen Technology Center AFC Sistema, its key components, including the fuel generator, are manufactured in Canada. However, a company from Nizhny Novgorod is ready to offer an alternative to imported hydrogen storage cylinders. Hydrogen is stored in cylinders under a pressure of 350 atmospheres.

Currently, the vehicle cannot reach a speed of more than 30 km/h. KamAZ explained that errors were made in two welding locations during assembly, so operating the vehicle in this condition could be dangerous.

After the forum, the vehicle will be sent to the Dmitrovsky test site, where tests will be conducted.

Previously, the hydrogen KamAZ had already appeared in photos when it was shown to Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak. The innovative KamAZ-53193 truck is capable of carrying more than 20 tons of cargo and can travel a distance of 400 kilometers on hydrogen fuel.
