The mine defense ships "Yakov Balyaev" and "Anatoly Shlemov" (Project 12700 "Alexandrite"), built according to the design of the "Almaz" Design Bureau at the Sredne-Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant, have completed tasks in the Far East, the press service of the USC reported.
The ships were on a voyage for about 2 months. The crews covered over 6,000 nautical miles and completed more than 40 combat training exercises. The crews gained invaluable experience in operating weapons, components and mechanisms.
The ship crews completed training tasks to search for mines using the "Diez" automatic systems and the "Livadia-ME" mine detection sonar stations.
The minesweepers of this project are designed to combat naval mines. In the coming decades, they will become the basis of the mine countermeasures forces of the Russian Navy.
