PD-35 aircraft engine prototype passes first stage of testing

The 35-ton thrust aircraft engine demonstrated stable results at the first stage

The development and testing of the PD-35 aircraft engine prototype, a technology demonstrator, have reached a new stage. According to a statement from one of the companies involved in the development, the engine has successfully completed the first stage of testing, demonstrating stable operation in accordance with the established parameters. It is emphasized that this is an important step in preparation for further testing.

The PD-35 project was launched in 2016 at the Perm "Aviadvigatel" and Rybinsk "Saturn", which are part of the United Engine Corporation (UEC). The PD-35, which features increased thrust up to 35 tons (16 tons more than the PD-14), will be the most powerful Russian aircraft engine. It is expected that the engine will be used on advanced wide-body aircraft, such as the modernized Il-96 and the An-124-100 Ruslan transport aircraft. It is assumed that mass production of the engine may begin by 2030.
