UAZ Fails: Domestic Brand Plummets to Fifth Place in the Pickup Market

Avtostat presented information on the state of the pickup market in Russia for September 2024. And here's what's noteworthy: the market leader has changed. Now it's JAC, with the Chinese manufacturer selling 637 pickups in Russia in a month. But UAZ, on the contrary, lost ground and dropped to fifth place.

In total, 2,749 new pickups were sold in Russia in September 2024, which is 58% more than in September last year.

For the third month in a row, the Chinese brand JAC has been leading in this segment of the Russian automotive market. At the beginning of autumn, sales of its pickups, as already mentioned, amounted to 637 units.

In second place again was the Great Wall brand, whose pickups were also sold in a fairly large quantity - 529 units. Recall that from January to June, Great Wall occupied the first place.

In addition to them, the top five most popular brands among pickups in September also included Changan (409 units), Sollers (328 units) and UAZ (318 units). Despite the fact that the domestic brand used to be the leader in the segment.

As a reminder, UAZ "Patriot", "Pickup", "Bukhanka" have risen significantly in price in Russia. At the same time, the company has significantlyimproved the quality of its cars after criticism. In particular, the manufacturer has improved the fuel supply and filtration system and increased power by changing the exhaust systems.

However, there are still some nuances. Defects in the cars arosedue to sanctions and the loss of key suppliers.
