UAZ Upgrades "Loaf" After Claims It Doesn't Belong on the Road

The improvements have increased the car's price by 20,000 rubles

The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant has started selling the updated UAZ SGR, better known as the "Loaf." The car, which has been produced since the late 50s of the last century, received an engine that meets the "Euro-5" standards. Because of this, it has become more expensive by 20,000 rubles — they are asking 1.45 million rubles for it in the basic version.

The engine that meets the "Euro-5" class is designated ZMZ-409055, and the "Euro-2" class engine is ZMZ-40911. The power of both engines is 112 horsepower. It is worth recalling that the 409 engine has been produced at the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant since 2000. In terms of design, it is unified with the ZMZ-406 engine.

Taking into account the updated engine, the prices for the "Loaf" are as follows: the SUV with a single-row cab is available for 1.45 million rubles, the 9-seater bus for 1.54 million rubles, and the "Expedition" version for 1.745 million rubles.

It is worth noting that the modernization of the car took place against the background of the story that the "Loaf" has no place on public roads. This was stated by the vice-president of the National Automobile Union, Yan Haitseer. In his opinion, this car is incompatible with today's time and safety. After that, the man complained about threats.

An unnamed UAZ representative later told reporters that it is incorrect to approach the "Loaf" with the measure of modern vehicles, and it is difficult to find an alternative to the car, especially if you take remote regions.
