Another round of testing has started in the Gulf of Finland for one of the quietest diesel-electric submarines in the history of the world's submarine fleet, the B-587 "Velikiye Luki" submarine of Project 677M "Lada". Military expert Evgeny Damantsev explained what is one of the main problems of the boat.
The only problem with the Project 677/M "Lada" submarines, including the "Velikiye Luki", remains the lack of an air-independent power plant that has reached operational readiness, which ensures being in a submerged position for up to 17 - 25 days.
The analyst recalled that the seven-bladed non-cavitating propeller, as well as multi-tiered shock-absorbing platforms for placing mechanized units of the power plant, provide the "Velikiye Luki" with a minimal acoustic signature when moving in the "creeping 1.5 - 3 knots" mode.
"Velikiye Luki" is capable of hitting the enemy with "Fizik-2" torpedoes from 6 533-mm torpedo tubes at a distance of up to 50 km in the "creeping" mode. 3M14K "Caliber-PL" cruise missiles with a range of up to 2000 - 2300 km can be used from the same torpedo tubes.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the universal UAV "Brazhnik" with "Hermes" will go into mass production. Now the drone is being tested in several application scenarios.
