VK Company (formerly Mail.ru Group) has announced the launch of an important update for the VK Video platform, providing users with access to “Kids Mode.” This feature is already available in beta on smart TVs, including Android TV, and is planned to be launched in the application on smartphones and tablets with Android and iOS in the future.
The developers explained that “Kids Mode” simplifies the search for videos for children. In this mode, children will be able to watch both classics of Russian animation and popular animated novelties, as well as educational and training videos. The content library, manually selected for children from 0 to 12 years old, also includes materials from popular bloggers, family films, and interactive videos. It is important that this content does not contain advertising and offers a safe search through a pre-marked database.
To activate “Kids Mode”, the user needs to log into their profile in the application, switch to kids mode and set a four-digit PIN code. This will prevent children from returning to an adult profile even when the application is restarted. If the PIN code is lost, it can be recovered through the VK Video mobile application.
VK Video features content from film studios Soyuzmultfilm, Volga, 0+ Media, Melnitsa, as well as the Riki group of companies. In the near future, the team plans to expand the amount of content for children and adolescents, starting cooperation with new film studios, bloggers and content creators.
