The Russian multi-role super-maneuverable fighter with thrust vectoring of the 4++ generation Su-35 is more expensive to operate than the Su-30MKA, and also not as effective as the developers claimed. This is according to Bulgarian Military.
Russia positions the Su-35 as a fighter to intercept enemy aircraft and gain air superiority. But, despite the arsenal of modern missiles for attacking ground targets, the Su-35 may not meet expectations where Patriot SAM systems and IRIS-T missiles dominate.
According to Bulgarian Military, it is difficult for Russia to sell the Su-35 even to its closest allies. This is due to international sanctions, as well as difficulties with maintenance due to a shortage of components.
