Russian manufacturer of anti-fragmentation personal protective equipment ARKONA showcased its products for both military personnel and special forces contingents, as well as for service dogs, at the "Warrior Expo 2024" military and tactical equipment exhibition in Moscow.
As "Perviy Tekhnicheskiy" was told at the ARKONA booth, the anti-fragmentation vest consists of three parts: protection for the back, chest, and abdomen. All elements are adjustable to the animal's size to prevent chafing and ensure maximum protection.
For each service animal vest, ARKONA allocates three ballistic packages. Such a package consists of UHMWPE 160g/m and Kevlar with a density of 400, with each package having 16 layers. The vest is equipped with a carrying handle on top and an evacuation harness in the front, where a carabiner can be attached for evacuation. The rings where the leash or carabiner is attached are strong and metallic.
The anti-fragmentation vest from the Stavropol manufacturers is also equipped with seven semi-automatic fasteners—fastex buckles—to prevent the dog from accidentally removing the vest during movement, play, or active duty.
The vest tailoring process is mainly individual: often, customers contact the manufacturers themselves. They are instructed on how to take measurements from the animals, then the style, color, and timing of the PPE tailoring are discussed, and after the order is completed, ARKONA maintains contact with customers in case of any questions or recommendations.
