Asteroid 2024 PT5 will temporarily become a quasi-satellite of Earth. It will orbit our planet for 57 days - from September 29 to November 25 this year.
According to Leonid Elenin, an astronomer at the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, it is impossible to see the "second Moon" with the naked eye - only with a telescope.
The visual magnitude will be between 22.3 and 22.7, which means it will be available for observation with telescopes with a mirror diameter of 1.5-2 m. If you have one, then yes, you can photograph this object - otherwise, no.
It is worth noting that asteroid 2024 PT5 was discovered on August 7, 2024, using the ATLAS system. Its diameter is about 10 meters, and its orbits are similar to Earth's.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the world's most powerful laser will appear in Russia.
