VTB Bank has launched the ability to pay for goods and services using a universal QR code. It was created on the initiative of the Central Bank and the National Payment Card System.
Currently, the bank has already connected a part of VTB's corporate clients to this payment technology, including large retail chains.
According to press service representatives, VTB supported the Bank of Russia in creating a universal QR code for paying for goods and services. VTB Chairman Vadym Kulik believes that the use of such a tool should be mandatory for all banks. It is emphasized that payment using a universal QR code can be made in stores that have switched to the updated format.
As a reminder, 22 banks are currently participating in this pilot project. In addition, a consortium of Alfa-Bank, T-Bank, and Sber are developing their own universal QR code.
