Transfer of Russian projects at CERN to institutes in other countries completed

The transfer of projects from Russian institutes to the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) to other countries has been completed as part of preparations for the termination of cooperation with Russia, scheduled for November 30, 2024. This was announced by CERN's official representative, Arnaud Marsollier.

In March of this year, he already mentioned that CERN intends to terminate cooperation with approximately 500 specialists associated with Russia. The Russian Foreign Ministry described this decision as politicized and unacceptable, emphasizing that the military-political situation should not hinder scientific progress.

Marsollier noted that the organization has done everything possible to complete the transfer of projects that Russian researchers were working on.

In response to the ban on working at CERN, Russia has seen the need for a state program for the development of fundamental physics, which could replace participation in international projects. In particular, under the leadership of the NRC "Kurchatov Institute," a program of neutron and synchrotron research is being developed, and the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics SB RAS has already created an initiative program for the development of electron-positron colliders.

CERN, located on the border of Switzerland and France, is the world's largest high-energy physics laboratory, known for the Large Hadron Collider, which made an important discovery — proving the existence of the Higgs boson.
