British expert Allison: The Royal Air Force wants Russia to know about the reconnaissance mission

Two Eurofighter fighters escorted British Royal Air Force Boeing RC-135 and Airbus KC2 Voyager reconnaissance aircraft on September 18 during a mission over the Black Sea. British military officials want Russia to know about their actions in the region, said cybersecurity expert George Allison. This is reported by Bulgarian Military.

As Bulgarian Military notes, the British aircraft flew over Romania, conducted reconnaissance over the Black Sea, and then returned to their airbases in Cyprus and Crete. At the same time, the fighters and reconnaissance aircraft keep their transponders turned on.

Boeing RC-135 and Airbus KC2 Voyager perform different functions. The former collects electronic and radio intelligence data. The crew of the aircraft, equipped with various sensors, intercepts and analyzes radio signals, including communications between the military. This gives them insight into the tactics of the Russian military.

The Airbus KC2 Voyager performs the functions of an aerial refueling tanker, but also has intelligence and surveillance capabilities. Thanks to integrated surveillance systems, the Voyager collects real-time data on the movement of military units and air defense activities.

Moreover, the aircraft serves as a communication hub, transmitting information between various units and the command center, which is necessary for coordinating the armed forces.
