State Duma deputies have proposed reducing tariffs for motorcyclists on toll roads. A new initiative has been submitted to the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, according to Deputy Chairman of the Committee Alexander Spiridonov (United Russia).
According to Alexander Spiridonov, it was proposed to classify motorcyclists as a separate category of vehicles and reduce tolls on toll roads. The decision is based on the fact that the technical parameters of motorcycles and passenger cars are incommensurable, as is the wear and tear on the road surface.
It is worth noting that bikers themselves have previously come up with a similar initiative.
Motorcycles take up less space on the road and damage the pavement less. The cost of travel should be reduced, for example, by half. Or canceled altogether.
However, the North-Western Concession Company (concessionaire of the M-11 Neva highway section) reported that the implementation of the initiative is technically impossible. It will require serious revision of the system and legislative changes.
